Showering Tina

Tina's BSJ
Tina and Mark are good friends of ours from church. they are expecting their first child, Emma Margaret.she isn’t due until Sept, so many more gifts will be coming…. but the shower is Saturday, so these are the first gifts for this special little one.

the sweater is a Baby Surprise Jacket knit on us #9 needles from 2 balls of Lana Grossa Meilenweit Colortweed held double. the thistle buttons have special meaning for Tina.

Bibs
next up, a set of crocheted cotton bibs. Tina is a fantasy novel and video game lover… so i couldn’t resist the Cthulu bib.

Christmas Knitting is progressing… slowly…

if you are at all into paper arts or collage, you might want to hop on over and pick up the free Christmas image countdowns available at tentwostudios.com and artist-how-to.com

the Christmas knitting is coming along at a snails pace. of course, since it’s been so long since i posted, it will seem like lightning fast to you all! lol.

putting it all behind a cut to protect the innocent (ok, not really very innocent… but recipients unawares… )

Peaches and Cream Shawl

Peaches and Cream Shawl

Originally uploaded by esmecat.

you may remember the crocheted shawl i posted about back in may when it was in progress… i finally got a decent photo of it put up over at flickr.

crochet shawl

I’ve been working on this shawl for almost 10 years now. for the first 9, I had only 5 motifs done. now I have all the motifs done through the peach… and it’s just a process of attaching each to the shawl with the last round of cream.

here is a closer up of the motifs. sorry it’s blurry… it is really fighting my camera. also, the cream and peach really don’t show off best against my brown carpet. really, they are very warm and yummy colors. at some point I will get a better picture for you all.

here it is just slightly more than half way done. I have 3 more rows to do…. then the border and fringe. the end is actually in sight!!

Christmas show and tell

this is some of what kept me busy working up to Christmas.

Coasters. I made 2 sets of the first pattern. one was 4 for Helen and the other was 6 for Paul (who loved them and wants more). I made 2 sets of 6 of the second pattern for Paul’s mother and for Tina. I made one set of 4 of the third pattern for Kathy (who Paul had in the gift exchange.)

this is the soldered Christmas ornament I made to commemorate Damon’s first Christmas. he’s 9 mos. old now. the papers I used are scraps from the album I made for him back in june.

these are some of the ornaments I made for Christmas. the first one (angel) I made a dozen of for stocking stuffers and gifts. the other 2 are one of a kinds made from scraps of old projects for Paul.

the first 2 of these monogram pendants have corrugated cardboard from coffee cup holders in them. they are a little thicker because of this, but I love the dimension it gives. I won’t say who they are for because they haven’t been given to the friends yet… the others were for Laura (p’s sis), Erin (my bro’s wife) and Emily (Kareem’s wife).

this “Home” charm has the rings on the side so I can feed it onto one of the spirals of a book I’m planning…

last, but not least, something special for myself. this pendant is now one of my favorite things. the little flowers inside it are tiny flowers Paul picked for me while we were hiking up on the Sobrante Ridge trail. they were too small to carry, so he pressed them into the little notebook he had in his pocket and gave them to me again later when they were dried.
