Monthly Archive for March, 2005

I spent some real quality time with my journals and watercolors today. I water colored about 2 dozen backgrounds between 2 of my current journals… now they are just waiting for me when ever I need them :)

I also got some journaling done. and a lot of pages started, but waiting more mental stirring of the pot.

this one certainly fits today! shhh, don’t tell Disney!
this one is from my PCOS journal… and exploration of some of the symptoms of the syndrome.
and some waiting for the addition of writing…

the sticker on the right side of this one reads “an important reminder: now is the best time for your monthly self breast exam.”

Ooh Child 2

this is a pair to the one in posted the other day :)

Ooh Child

O-o-h child things are gonna get easier
O-o-h child things ’ll get brighter
O-o-h child things are gonna get easier
O-o-h child things ’ll get brighter
Someday we’ll get it toghether and we’ll get it undone
Someday when the world is much brighter
Someday we’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Someday when the world is much lighter

last week I was working on making 1/12″ scale miniatures for a swap. I was folding miniature origami cranes. I mentioned it in the AB chat, and they were a little disbelieving of the size. I promised them that I would have pictures of these today.

and an added bonus… the bookcase Paul made last night to hold my mini treasures. I’m going to paint the bookcase.

new art…

i was working on getting my contribution to Tomas Wynn’s Memento project out, and stopped to play with it a littl bit. first off, the tin for the Memento project:

each contributer was sent a tin to fill with something that represented themselves. I chose a bit of tatted lace (butterflies in a ring) and a scherenschnitte shillouette.

i decided that, if I was going to make this cutting for the tin, I should do the whole pattern so that i’d have the pattern piece left to use for a stencil.

before trimming it down for the tin, I did some creative scanning…

while I was scan happy, I also scanned an angel I had sitting there.

more new art…

here are 3 compositions notebooks I covered. nothing fancy, just quick alteration so they didn’t look/feel the same as the ones from all those years at school. I love these for subject based notebooks. they look so nice all lined up on my shelf. much better than spiral notebooks.

this first one is my notebook for keeping track of my efforts at weight lose. I track my weight in the mornings and evenings. I track what I’m eating. I track when I’m exercising. I track how much sleep I’m getting and how much water I’m drinking… I track all those fiddly details of living. at least it looks pretty. I wanted to keep it fairly nondescript, to keep it from announcing itself to the world.

this one it the new travel journal I’m keeping and filling with notes and photos from small day trips Paul and I take on weekends. that way, when his seizures whip out memories, he has something to bring them back a little with. I’m thought I would add photos to the front of this, but it’s growing on me just the way it is.

this one is for genealogy notes. eventually, I’ll add a bit of scherenschnitte and some old family photos to the cover.
next up, my card from the Proverbs ATC swap. my verse was Proverbs 27:22 – Though you grind a fool in a mortar, grinding him like grain with a pestle, you will not remove his folly from him. I ran out of time and had to whip these off. if I’d had more time, I would have done some glazing (silver maybe?)over them to make them feel more integrated, and given them a little darker edges. unfortunately, I had to get the swap (all originals) off and didn’t get a chance.

and here’s a scherenschnitte cutting I did because I had printed out the pattern a while back and it was sitting there. it was a quick project.

a little Mail Art…

here’s something I forgot to post quite a while back. this is the journal I made for Amber for her birthday. the doll on the front is the one I made with the doll face I carved when writing up the article on carving for Megan’s Mysterium Zine.

on sunday, we went up to Bodega Bay to spend some quality time together. Paul knows I love the beach.

I just added the first 4 of my coptic bound journals to my website for sale *happy dance*

I think I have something special with the burl veneers. I haven’t seen anything like it elsewhere. and the pictures can’t do them any justice at all :( they are so much prettier in person.
