I’ve been having such a hard time getting moving today. I don’t know what it is. I got plenty of sleep.
today, with any luck, I’ll finish the alphabet. I’ve got 4 more letters to cut (including re-cutting the K). yea!!
i have this urge for a while now to play hookie and create some art just for the hell of it. maybe I will for a bit today….

and I’ve also added 2 colored versions of my scherenschnitte celtic knotwork photo mats.
and that’s it. I’m done. back to the grindstone. I have a dozen more books waiting to be bound and I’m hoping to get the alphabet finished in the next week and a half… plus plenty of other little tasks that always come up… so I probably won’t have anything exciting to show till then. but that’s probably a good thing as I think I’ve overone it on the posting today, huh?

so, they don’t sell the painter’s tape in 1/2″. this sucks. measuring and taping has begun… this will suck up some of my relax time (what relax time?!?!) *poot*
today was a VERY frustrating day.today I found out that Scotch tape for watercolor paper sucks. big time. ugh. even though I had burnished each one down with my bone folder right before painting, the watercolors seeped underneath 19 of 25 of my backgrounds from yesterday. they are totally useless for the scherenschnitte. I’ll probably cut them down for atcs or something… but….
so today I ripped the tape off the 90 or so others I had prepared in advance (= 1 whole roll of the tape – 60 yrds) and I have to wait till Paul gets me some of the blue painters tape in 1/2 inch before I can work on these again. the 1/2 width tape saves me hours of measuring, etc. the blue tape still rips some of the backgrounds… even when aggressively detacked… but the rate of failure is much much lower than the stupid watercolor paper tape.
the tape was almost $10 for a roll. this is so depressing. I got it because it was guaranteed not to rip the paper and give a hard paint edge. lies. damn lies. ok, just one lie… but that’s enough.
today is… you guessed it… an art day!
in a break from the bookbinding and scherenschnitte and paste paper routine (because my mind is threatening to melt out my ears at the moment) I’m painting watercolor backgrounds to mount scherenschnitte cuttings on. last night I got 25 painted. today I ink them with the white calligraphy ink… and paint more. I have about a dozen cutting waiting to be mounted already… and I’m hoping to get quiet a few more done in these 3 weeks left.
also on today’s horizons, gluing burl veneer onto prepared book covers (oh joy! *rg*)
