I’ve dreamed for a long time of making a mitered square sock yarn scrap blanket. while gearing up for Sock Wars III to start – and not wanting to get focused on a major project and drop it – I started to make a first few squares. I am completely in love with it! but… I realized just how small the squares are and how many I needed to make a blanket… I’d be waiting for years to have enough scraps!so, this was my plea…  anyone interested in trading me some of their sock yarn scraps for some hand made stitch markers or handmade greeting cards? bath salts? or some other small gift I could make? this offer was accepted by many folks during SWIII and I made a lot of death/row counters for people to commemorate SWIII…. so I currently have a lot of yarn to work through… but I will eventually still need more.
SWII Row Counters
in order to be able to keep a visual track of where i’m going and what i have done, i graphed out the grid placement of my layout plan. i numbered all the small blocks to count how many i needed. i hinged a piece of tracing paper over the top and redrew just the layout lines. every so often, i color in the finished squares with colored pencils to keep track of what is done. this may seem a little over the top… yes, i know… but it helps me keep track and make sure i don’t fill in with small squares where a large square belongs. when i’m done, i’ll probably use the tracing paper in so art somehow.
